MEDCOM Physical Therapist in FT. SAM HOUSTON, Texas

This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center, Executive Health Clinic, at Fort Sam Houston, TX.

  • Evaluate Executive Medicine patients (Army General Officers and spouses) with a full range of injuries, including musculoskeletal extremity injuries, spine complications, neurological impairments, and pain

  • Develop and implement complex treatment plans

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement goal-oriented group and individual physical therapy treatment programs

  • Utilize therapeutic modalities, such as air, water, electricity, therapeutic massage, soft tissue mobilization, and manual therapy

  • Educate and counsel patients and family members on diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment plans

  • Develop protocols and standard operating procedures (SOP) for Physical Therapy programs

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.

  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

  • Must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced certification (e.g., Advanced Life Support) does not supersede BLS completion.

  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

Basic Requirements for Physical Therapist:

Degree: A graduate (or higher level) degree that included a physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained, and completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school.

Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT).

In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized experience: Three years of specialized experience which includes evaluating physical therapy patients and implementing physical therapy treatment.
